Privacy Policy
This policy covers the NeraSnap macOS app and this website. NeraSnap is developed and provided by Plekaty (“the developer”).
1. The short version
NeraSnap processes screenshots and screen recordings on your Mac. Captures are not uploaded to the developer. Connecting Google Drive and uploading a file are optional.
The app does not require a NeraSnap account and contains no advertising, tracking or usage analytics. The developer does not operate a server that receives your data. Apple handles App Store purchases. Google handles optional Google Drive connections. If you email support, the developer receives the information you send.
2. Screen recording data
NeraSnap uses the macOS Screen Recording permission for screenshots of an area, a window or the whole screen (including delayed capture), scrolling capture, and video and GIF recording of a selected area, window or display. It also reads the names of open apps and windows to let you pick a capture target and, if your file name template includes them, to name the file.
What is captured: only the screen content you select, and only after you start a capture or recording; system audio only when you enable it for a recording. NeraSnap does not capture your screen in the background or continuously.
Why: solely to create the screenshot or recording you asked for, so you can edit, annotate, copy, save or share it. Text recognition and automatic blurring of personal data run on-device. Screen content is never used for analytics, advertising, profiling or AI training.
Sharing: screen recording data is not sent to the developer, and is not sold or shared with any third party. A capture leaves your Mac only when you choose to: by uploading it to your own Google Drive (section 5), sharing it through the system Share menu, dragging it into another app, or copying it to the clipboard.
Storage and retention: captures are stored only on your Mac — in the folder you choose in an Open panel, in the optional local capture history inside the app's container (kept according to your history settings and removable at any time in Settings), and, if saving a recording fails, in a local recovery folder inside the app's container so you can retrieve it. Temporary files created during processing, for example for drag and drop, are deleted automatically.
3. Data on your Mac
| Screenshots, annotations and recordings | Processed locally for capture, editing, playback and export. Saved files are stored in locations you choose. Temporary files may be created while work is in progress. |
|---|---|
| Capture history and previews | Stored locally in the app's container when history is enabled, within your retention settings. |
| Recognized text | Text recognition and automatic blurring of personal data run on-device using Apple's Vision framework. Images and recognized text are not sent to any external OCR or AI service. |
| App and window names | When a file name template includes them, the name of the app and window you captured (for example, a browser tab title) is read locally when the capture starts and used only to name the file. |
| Style templates | Saved style templates and other settings are stored locally. |
| Preferences and folder access | Settings, shortcuts and sandbox folder bookmarks are stored locally to remember your choices. |
| Purchase and trial status | Verified App Store transaction information determines feature access. A local Keychain record helps track the trial period. |
Copying places content on the macOS clipboard, where other apps and system features may access or sync it according to your settings. Sharing through the system Share menu or dragging a thumbnail hands the file to the app or service you choose. NeraSnap does not control files after you export or share them.
4. Permissions
Screen Recording lets NeraSnap capture the screen content you select. Microphone access is requested only when you enable microphone audio for a recording; Camera access only when you enable the camera overlay. System audio is captured only when you enable it for a recording. Input Monitoring is requested only when you turn on showing pressed shortcuts in recordings: a listen-only monitor shows shortcuts and special keys in the recording, never plain typing or password fields, and keystrokes are not stored or sent. Granting permissions never causes automatic uploads.
Manage permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Revoking a permission makes the corresponding feature unavailable.
5. Optional Google Drive connection
If you connect Google Drive, Google handles sign-in in your browser; NeraSnap never receives your Google password. The app uses an authorization token to upload files you choose to the “NeraSnap Uploads” folder in your Drive.
The app requests only the drive.file scope, which limits access to files created by or explicitly opened with NeraSnap. Your account email is used locally to show which account is connected. Authorization credentials are stored in the macOS Keychain.
Uploading sends the selected file and the request information needed to perform the upload to Google. If you enable public link sharing, NeraSnap asks Google Drive to let anyone with the link view that file. Review captures for personal or confidential information before uploading.
Disconnecting removes the local credentials and requests revocation of the authorization. It does not delete uploaded files or change their sharing permissions; manage those in Google Drive. You can also revoke access in your Google Account. Google's processing is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
6. App Store purchases and trial
Apple processes payments and App Store account information. NeraSnap receives signed transaction information through StoreKit to verify Pro access, restore purchases and manage the trial when offered. This may include product identifiers, transaction identifiers, purchase dates and revocation status. NeraSnap never receives your payment card details.
A seven-day trial, when offered, starts from the original verified App Store trial transaction. Restoring preserves its original end date. See the Apple Privacy Policy for Apple's processing.
7. Support email and this website
When you write to support@plekaty.com, the developer receives your email address, message and any attachments, and uses them only to answer your request and diagnose the issue. The app never sends diagnostic files to the developer automatically.
Send only what is needed to explain the issue. Do not send passwords, tokens, payment details or unrelated private content.
This website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives information such as the pages you view, approximate location, and device and browser details; Google processes it under the Google Privacy Policy. You can block it with your browser's tracking protection or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The website uses no advertising pixels or embedded third-party media. The NeraSnap app itself contains no analytics. The hosting provider may process technical request data such as IP addresses and browser information in server logs, under its own privacy policy.
8. Retention, deletion and your choices
Local capture history follows your history settings and storage limits. You can clear or disable history in NeraSnap. Clearing history does not delete files you saved elsewhere or uploaded to Google Drive. Deleting the app removes its container data; some Keychain items may remain and can be removed with Keychain Access.
Support correspondence is kept as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request or meet legal obligations. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information held by the developer — email the contact below. The developer cannot access or delete captures stored only on your Mac, or data held independently by Apple, Google or the hosting provider.
NeraSnap is a general-purpose productivity app and is not directed at children.
9. Contact and changes
This policy may be updated when the app, website or data practices change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
